Entre viatges i flors combines dance and text. It is built upon a selection of texts by catalan author Mercè Rodoreda, published within the complilation of short stories “Viatges i flors” (Journeys and flowers). The images these texts create are read like a stream of water: some appear slow but steady to your inner eye – building up a landscape with detail – others pass by fast, hasting away in no-time. “Entre viatges i flors” looks for connections between these images and the inherent ambiguity of dance in relationship to meaning. Our intent is to create a particular poetic universe, holding it between the literal universe the spoken word carries and its abstraction through movement. In the process, we wanted to respect the melancholic color tainting all the selected fragments: a certain sadness that is to be found in all of Rodoreda’s texts and can be traced back to the feeling of emptiness and absurdity of a post-war landscape.
